The problem
A major bank outage, like an SBI incident, drops payment success 5 to 10%. Detection lagged 7 to 10 minutes on a manual dashboard, and the real cost is the user who does not come back for days.
What I did
- —Automated a per-minute live-status API pull.
- —Added severity handling: gray out the instrument for severe outages.
- —Gray-out beats warn, warn beats silent failure.
Impact
- —Time to surface an outage dropped from about 7 to 10 minutes to about 1 minute.
The cost of an outage is not the failed transaction, it is the user who does not return for days.
