The problem
Overnight, regulation mandated 27% GST on every single deposit. Getting it wrong meant charging users incorrectly at scale, starting from the very first transaction.
What I did
- —Built taxation, invoicing, and location-routing microservices from scratch under a hard deadline.
- —Treated compliance as infrastructure, not a feature bolted on later.
- —Designed for peak load from day one.
Impact
- —About 300 to 310 CR per month in GST processed through the tax and invoicing services.
- —Location service held about 4 lakh requests per minute at weekend peak.
- —Correct on the first transaction.
When a regulation lands overnight, compliance is infrastructure, not a feature.
